I'm trying to install on my own server (running Apache2), but I'm having trouble getting URL rewrites to work. Is there a sample .htacces available somewhere?

@tanja not yet. I currently use caddy so I don't even have a .htaccess to give.

But there shouldn't be any (unusual) rewrites. What doesn't seem to be working?

@keyoxide I can't verify anything. When I put my e-mail address in on the /proofs page, I get "TypeError: NetworkError when attempting to fetch resource." The Apache log file reads....

@keyoxide ...
AH01071: Got error 'PHP message: PHP Notice: Undefined variable: auto_input in /srv/htdocs/keyoxide.tanjapetri.de/views/proofs.php on line 16PHP message: PHP Notice: Undefined variable: wkd_input in /srv/htdocs/keyoxide.tanjapetri.de/views/proofs.php on line 19PHP message: PHP Notice: Undefined variable: hkp_input in /srv/htdocs/keyoxide.tanjapetri.de/views/proofs.php on line 22', referer: keyoxide.tanjapetri.de/guides/

@tanja so sorry this is happening. Selfhosting is an important feature to me but one I haven't had the time and opportunity yet to put a lot of effort in. Providing a container should go a long way and is in the works…

I'm not sure what triggers this error. No reason for these variables to be undefined. What version of PHP are you using?

@keyoxide PHP version is 7.4. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the rewrite. I don't actually know my way around mod_rewrite that well. Somebody gave me a hint for Nginx that worked for him, and the translation I found for Apache was this:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule ^index.php$ - [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
This was me and my typical search-fu admin style... 😳

@tanja having very little nginx/apache experience myself, I'm still a little uncertain what is causing this.

Could you perhaps send over what you already have via a pastebin or something similar and I'll have a look on my server as well? Need to do some debugging 😉

@keyoxide Major league facepalm... 🤦‍♀️

uMatrix was blocking the external domains. I did try from a private Firefox window, where the addon is disabled, but I guess something else still must have been at work in the background.

Thanks for taking the time, though.

I'll try to make amends by writing out a self-hosting tutorial for Apache (and possibly, with a little help from my Hubzilla contact who helped me initially, for Nginx).

@keyoxide Also, thanks for getting back to me on this.
